Slab Strengthening for Service Penetrations of Premier Inn Hotel, Kingston Upon Thames, London, UK

Project: Slab Strengthening for Service Penetrations of Premier Inn Hotel
Location: Kingston Upon Thames, London, UK
Client: Barnes Construction
Contract Duration: 4 Weeks

Scope of Works:
• Slab strengthening for service penetrations using Tyfo SCH Carbon Fibre Systems

Project Description:
An office to hotel conversion in Kingston Upon Thames was the project for Barnes Construction from Suffolk. The original 1960’s concrete framed building in the town centre had quite restrictive head room between slabs. We were contacted by the clients consulting engineers to help with the transfer of loads through the slabs due to cutting of the reinforcement through drilling service holes. A very common case for us here at Fibrwrap UK, we designed a simple solution using Tyfo SCH Carbon Fibre Systems, we designed 3 or 4 details that could be repeated for each bedroom/bathroom configuration and also a particular design for the restaurant/kitchen ventilation. Below are some images of the Carbon Fibre Strengthening prior to the drilling taking place.
Be aware that by carrying out the strengthening prior to the drilling taking place you eliminate the requirement for temporary works saving time and money. And because the Tyfo Fibrwrap systems is typically 1mm thick per layer there are no restrictions on head height.
